Fou Gallery is delighted to invite you to join the closing reception of Fou Gallery’s current exhibition Lan Zhaoxing and Yang Renqian: Between Mountains from 3-6pm, on Saturday, March 16, 2019. In this event, you will walk through the exhibition with artist Renqian Yang and curator Echo He to learn about the exhibition concept and creative process.
From 7:00-8:30 pm, Chinese American vocalist Di Zhao will present program "Between Mountains - From Schubert to Strauss" to respond to the theme of the exhibition.
Fou Gallery’s current exhibition Between Mountains presents Renqian Yang's ceramic works and paintings by Lan Zhaoxing. Images of mountains have remained a potent source of inspiration for artists, writers and musicians. The eternal theme of mountains leads into the distance while returning to one’s internal mind. The theme of mountains is not only an inspiration for both Lan Zhaoxing and Renqian Yang, but also for musician Di Zhao.
Looking for inspiration of nature and mountains in classic music, Di carefully designed a programme of six songs from Schubert to Strauss. Im Frühling (In Spring) describes a man who lost love in the spring remember when the two had gone for a walk by a mountainside lake. Der Nussbaum (The Nut Tree) tells the story about a young girl’s daydreams and secrets exchanged between the two trees. Auf Flügeln des Gesanges (On Wings of Song) transports listeners to a beautiful night garden, with fragrant flowers, a murmuring stream, and a palm tree under which they can dream. By combining vocal performance practice and poetry reading, Jodi creates a special dialogue with the exhibition at Fou Gallery through music.

《山间》展览呈现了杨人倩的陶瓷创作，与兰昭形的绘画创作。在艺术、文学和音乐中，山间常被人赋予种种矛盾的意向。山亘古不变，引向远方，又指回内心。山不仅是杨人倩和兰昭形创作的灵感来源，亦启发了赵笛。
赵笛从古典音乐中寻找关于自然和山脉的灵感，并精心设计了从舒伯特到施特劳斯的六首歌曲的曲目表。《在春天》描述了一个在春天失去了爱情的男人回忆起两个人在山腰湖畔散步的时光。 《胡桃树》讲述了两棵树谈论一个年轻女孩的白日梦和秘密的故事。《乘着歌声的翅膀》将听众带到一个夜色之下的美丽花园，那里有芬芳的花朵，潺潺的溪流，还有一棵棕榈树让他们可以在树下入梦。通过声乐表演和诗歌朗诵的结合，赵笛将用音乐与在否画廊展览的两位艺术家进行独特的对话。

Musician - Di Zhao
Di Zhao has performed all over the world, beginning with a 1994 televised Christmas concert in Lanzhou. After studies of bel canto singing in the US, Europe, and China, Di has gone on to give solo performances in spaces including the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the United Nations. Most recently She was the grand prize winner of CCTV's 2018 "Upcoming Star” Competition in Beijing, China. Notable roles include Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Despina in Cosi fan Tutte, and Marian in The Music Man.
音乐家 - 赵笛
赵笛的音乐生涯起始于1994年中国甘肃兰州电视台的圣诞音乐晚会上。7岁来到美国后又学习了西方的爵士乐和百老汇舞台剧。2011年毕业于新泽西的普林斯顿希敏斯特音乐学院，获得了声乐学位，后又转入奥地利格莱斯大学，进修歌剧艺术表演。她在林肯中心，卡耐基音乐厅和联合国都举办过独唱表演。2018年她荣获CCTV 星光青少年才艺大赛冠军。她在艺术舞台上扮演了不同类型的角色：《费加罗婚礼》的Susanna、《音乐人》的Marian等。
