New York - Fou Gallery is delighted to invite you to Inner Sense: Dancing at Dawn on Jan. 2nd, Saturday, respectively at 1:30 pm and 3 pm, responding to Chen Dongfan’s exhibition Long Past Dawn, Pirates and Poets Whistle in the Dark.
This program is brought to us by Cross Move Lab. As the choreographer, Hui Guanglei collaborated with the artist Chen Dongfan and two other dancers, Diane Auriol, and Mizuho Kappa, to lead viewers to experience the emotions embedded in Chen’s works through their movements in space. The performance will be an in-person immersive experience. There will be two sessions, and each session lasts 30 minutes with no more than 10 audience due to COVID-19 restrictions. Following the dance performance, a 20-minute guided tour about Chen Dongfan's exhibition will be given by the Fou Team.
Inspired by Chen’s artworks from the time of the pandemic, the dancers will use this performance to reconsider the concept of boundary and respond to the literariness in Chen’s narratives. Throughout the performance, the dancers will be wrapped in plastic bags painted by Chen Dongfan. The bags will reenact a sense of limitation that was also present during the artist’s creation process. The viewers will notice the dancers’ blurred appearance, gender, and ethnic identity and watch how they interact with each other behind plastic bags. The abundance of literary allusions in Chen’s art also lies at the heart of this choreography. With -the help of the accompanying classical music, the dancers will extend their imagination to translate the artist’s expressions of confusion, anger, and hope into their movements, and thus enrich the poetic atmosphere in the gallery.

纽约 - 否画廊诚挚邀请您参加舞蹈《内在空间：黎明时起舞》。本次活动将于1月2日（星期六）下午1点30分与3点举行两场，并与展览《陈栋帆：漫长的黎明，海盗与诗人在黑暗中吹口哨》相呼应。
本次活动由Cross Move Lab与否画廊共同合作。舞蹈家回广磊担任身兼编舞与舞者，与艺术家陈栋帆合作，同Diane Auriol和Mizuho Kappa两位舞者一道带领观众感受他们舞蹈动作中与艺术作品相似的情感。本次演出是一次线下的沉浸式体验。演出共两次，每次演出时长为30分钟。每场舞蹈表演后，否团队还会给观众提供20分钟的陈栋帆展览导赏。出于安全考虑，到场的参加人数限于10人。
受到陈栋帆在疫情期间的作品的启发，舞者们将在本次表演中重新思考边界的概念，并回应陈栋帆作品中的文学性。在整个表演过程中，舞者将被包裹在陈栋帆画的塑料袋中。塑料袋重现了陈栋帆在疫情期间所受的一种局限感。观众将注意到舞者模糊的外表，性别和种族身份，并观察他们在塑料袋之后是如何互动。陈栋帆作品中大量的文学典故也正是本次编舞的核心。以古典音乐为背景，舞者们不断延伸想象力空间，将艺术家在作品中表达的困惑，愤怒和希望转移到他们的动作中，使得诗意气氛贯穿整个画廊空间。

Choreographer: Hui Guanglei
Hui Guanglei (b. China) is an independent artist, choreographer, dancer, and founder of the company Cross Move Lab. He graduated from The Bishkek of Arts in 2003 with a degree in Choreography/Russian Classical Ballet Performance with Education. In 2005, he joined Guangdong Modern Dance Company, the first modern dance company in China. In 2011, he worked as an invited choreographer in Yokohama Dance Collection. In 2012, he was invited by the International Choreographers Residency Program (ICR) to participate in the American Dance Festival. In 2016, he was invited to Taipei Dance Round Table Project to work on a new original piece.
Since 2017, he started teaching at Queens College. In 2018, he received Artist Commissioning Program Grants from Queens Council on the Arts and started teaching at Peridance Capezio Center. He has toured in more than twenty countries, participating in international arts festivals, he is also a co-founder of Touch Contact Improvisation in China.
He has worked with renowned international artists including Sang Jijia (from William Forsythe Dance Company), Yin Mei (YMDC Artistic Director), Margaret Jenkins (MJDC Artistic Director), Shen Wei (Shen Wei Dance Arts Artistic Director), Hou Ying (HYDT Artistic Director), Jodi Melnick, Cheng-Chieh Yu (UCLA Dance Professor), Young Soon Kim (White Wave Dance Company Artistic Director), Lane Gifford (LaneCoArts Artistic Director).

回广磊（中国）是一名独立的艺术家，编舞和舞蹈演员，也是Cross Move Lab的创始人。他于2003年毕业于比什凯克艺术学院，当时名为B. beishenalieva，并获得编舞/俄罗斯古典芭蕾舞表演教育学学位。2005年，他加入了中国第一家现代舞蹈公司广东现代舞团。 2011年，他担任横滨舞蹈精选的编舞。 2012年，他受国际舞蹈家居住计划（ICR）的邀请参加了美国舞蹈节。 2016年，他受邀参加台北舞蹈圆桌会议项目，创作新作品。
从2017年起，他开始在皇后学院任教。 2018年，他从皇后区艺术委员会获得了艺术家委托计划拨款，并开始在Peridance Capezio中心任教。他已经在二十多个国家进行了巡回演出，参加了国际艺术节，并且还是中国接触即兴创作的联合创始人。
他曾与国际知名艺术家合作，包括桑吉加（来自William Forsythe舞蹈公司），殷梅（YMDC艺术总监），Margaret Jenkins（MJDC艺术总监），沈伟（沈伟舞蹈艺术总监），侯莹（HYDT艺术总监），Jodi Melnick，余承婕（UCLA舞蹈教授），金顺顺（White Wave舞蹈公司艺术总监），Lane Gifford（LaneCoArts艺术总监）。

Diane Auriol (b. France) graduated from the Martha Graham School in 2018, performing the Graham solo “Lamentation,” coached by Peggy Lyman. She was once a student at Silva Ricard Ballet, where she learned ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance techniques and toured in Spain, Germany, and Portugal. She has been teaching at Adelphi University in Long Island and assisting in restaging some Graham repertory such as the “Chronicle.” Diane has joined Cross Move Lab in 2019 and performed Guanglei Hui’s choreography at the Queens Museum.
She has also studied the Gaga Technique in Israel and New York and has worked with many upcoming choreographers such as Joe Monteleone, Susie McHugh, Yoshito Sakuraba, Miriam Barbosa, as well as Patricia Birch.
Since the beginning of 2017, she has been exploring her own style as a choreographer and has been performing her own works in New York City and Philadelphia.
Mizuho Kappa (b. Osaka, Japan) started her dance training at the age of 3 with Ballet and attended Hans Meister Summer Ballet Course. In Japan, she performed works by Kazuyuki Futami, Miho Ryu, Jonathan Huor, Jorge Vasquez, and Ryu Suzuki. In 2018, she moved to New York and performed works by Igal Perry, Yoshiko Chuma, Julie Magneville, Guanglei Hui, Nicholas Palmquist, Bennyroyce Royon, and Hussein Smko.
She also has had the opportunities to present her own experimental works at The Salvatore Capezio Theater, House of YES, Alvin Ailey, Arts On Site, Ars Electronica, ITINERANT Performance Art Festival, Open Source Gallery, DE-CONSTRUKT, New Museum & NEW INC.
She currently works with Peridance Contemporary Dance Company, Yoshiko Chuma and the School of Hard Knocks, GASPARD & DANCERS, and Project TAG.
