New York - Fou Gallery warmly welcomes you to a classical voice performance on September 10th, Saturday afternoon, from 3-5 pm. To celebrate the closing of the exhibition Sotto Voce by artist Shuling Guo, Fou invites musician Di Zhao to immerse you in a visually and auditorily splendid experience. While analyzing the aesthetics of the artworks, audiences can also enjoy a selection of cross-cultural and inter-generational repertoire, coming to a vivid and successful end of the exhibition Sotto Voce.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Di Zhao for her ingenious repertoire selection. Audiences will follow the story and timeline of the repertoire to feel the whisper of the sea and the surging winds. Through singing, Di Zhao will lead all to an imaginary space: at first, audiences feel Morgen! 's gentle melody, like waves lapping on the shore; followed by the jubilation of Die Forelle, Les Berceaux evokes an intense sadness from the separation between mothers and their seafaring sons by deliberately mimicking the ever-evolving waves. Then, Di Zhao will perform La Mer and Santa Lucia to reach the story's climax. The catchy and passionate lyrics and songs illustrate the complete embracement of nature as artist Shuling Guo wrote: "The sounds of the wind, the movements of clouds, the undulations of waves… All these things reshape me. I no longer have a binary relationship with nature; I feel as a part within it, beholden to it." Forwarding to contemporary pieces, both tracks inspired by films - Almost Real and Moon River - talk about dreams of young girls, and Song on the Sand invokes fond memories of first love. At last, the voyage will end in Listening to the Sea. 

In addition to interpreting the repertoire, Di Zhao will interact with the audience during the performance. Fou Gallery hopes that this "The World's Waters" classical voice performance will establish a "mutually supportive" relationship between music, paintings, and emotions, rendering the still images with a sense of time.

否画廊诚挚邀请您参加将于9月10日周六下午3-5点举办的众水一歌：美声演唱会。为庆祝展览《低语》闭幕，本次活动邀请音乐家赵笛为大家带来一场视听盛宴。浅析郭淑玲作品美学的同时，体验跨文化、时代的歌剧中带来的别样观感，为展览《低语》画上生动、圆满的句号。

在此，我们由衷感谢音乐家赵笛为本次活动精选的曲目。听众将随着歌剧选段的故事与时间线，感受大海的浅吟低唱、风起云涌。音乐家先将听众引入一个想象中的场景：随着德国作曲家理查德·施特劳斯的爱意之歌《明天！》（Morgen!），感受温柔的旋律恰似海浪浅拍着沙滩；紧接着弗朗茨·舒伯特《鳟鱼》（Die Forelle）的欢欣雀跃，是法国作曲家加布里埃尔·福雷在《摇篮》(Les Berceaux) 中对海浪始终不断的起伏流转的刻意描绘，侧面凸显年轻母亲和儿子在海边离别的浓烈悲情；情绪渲染至顶峰时，音乐家将演绎法国作曲家查尔斯·德内的《海》（La Mer）与那不勒斯民歌《桑塔露琪亚》（Santa Lucia）。朗朗上口、饱满激昂的词曲诠释了郭淑玲的创作手记中对自然的全然包容：“完全地裸露在自然中：风的声音，云的运动，浪的起伏......  完全地进入其中，不分你我，与它一起生存。” 走进现代，美国词曲家杰森·罗伯特·布朗创作的影视曲目《如梦似真》（Almost Real）与美国作曲家亨利·曼西尼的《月亮河》（Moon River）一同倾诉着少女青涩的梦想；美国词曲家杰瑞·赫尔曼的《沙滩的歌》（Song on the Sand）则唤起记忆中的美好初恋。最后，情绪将在中国作曲家胡廷江的《听海》终止航行。

在演唱会期间，音乐家还将解读演唱曲目，并与观众互动交流。希望本次 “众水一歌” 美声演唱会建立起音乐、绘画、情感之间的 “同构关系”，赋予凝固的画作一种时间的延续。

Musician: Di Zhao

Di’s love for the performing arts began after singing in a televised concert as a young child in 1994. After completing studies in classical voice at Westminster Choir University in Princeton, US and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, Di has performed in venues across the US, Europe and China including the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the United Nations. In 2018 she took first place in the CCTV Rising Star Competition in Beijing, China. 

Versatile in genres ranging from Broadway standards to German Lieder, Di constantly seeks to express the inexpressible through music. Favorite roles include Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro and Marian in The Music Man.

演唱：赵笛

赵笛的音乐生涯起始于1994年中国甘肃兰州电视台的圣诞音乐晚会上。7岁来到美国后又学习了西方的爵士乐和百老汇舞台剧。2011年毕业于新泽西的普林斯顿希敏斯特音乐学院，获得了声乐学位，后又转入奥地利格莱斯大学，进修歌剧艺术表演。她在林肯中心，卡耐基音乐厅和联合国都举办过独唱表演。2018年她荣获CCTV 星光青少年才艺大赛冠军。她在艺术舞台上扮演了不同类型的角色：《费加罗婚礼》中的的Susanna、莫扎特《女人心》的Despina、《音乐人》的Marian等。
