The Echo from the Highland series I and series II derived from the experiences Meng Du had with collecting rocks from the Highland park. Meng Du collected a rock every month, as a documentary of time. In Echo from the Highland series I, she cast the original look of the rock, the mirror and the imaginative forms into glass sculptures. In Echo from the Highland series II, she made twelve partially polished glass containers, inside of which are merely empty spaces imitating the shape of rocks. The small window on top of the container enables the viewer to look through. Although what's inside looks like a real rock, it 's actually empty shape made with silver leaf. When the works were completed, Meng Du sent them back to the nature to continue their jobs. Meng Du was awarded with the Honorable Mention on The International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa 2016 because of The Echo from the Highland series I. The twelve works were exhibited on The International Exhibition of Glass Kanazawa 2016, which was held in Shiinoki Cultural Complex, Ishikawa Prefecture. The exhibition then traveled to Notojima Glass Art Museum, a public museum in Japan that specializes in glass art.
