Support & Financials

Fou Residency is free of charge. We provide: A private home and studio space in Tulum; Access to nature, healing tools, and local contacts; Filtered drinking water upon arrival.

• No Residency Fee: There is no application or residency fee.

• Travel & Utilities: Residents are responsible for covering their own travel expenses and electricity usage during the stay (approximately MXN 400/month depending on use). Electricity payments must be made locally at OXXO and help encourage energy-conscious living. (See Q&A section for the reasoning of electricity usage).

• Stipend (Optional & Limited):

The resident artist agrees to: Leave one piece of work as a courtesy to the sponsor and the residency archive. Credit the sponsor, Fou Residency, and its collaborators when presenting work developed during the residency, when appropriate.

Residents Commitment

The resident artist agrees to: Leave one piece of work, as a courtesy to the residency archive. 

• If selected to receive a USD $500 stipend (pending availability through individual or organizational sponsorship), the resident agrees to provide an additional work as a courtesy to the sponsor, and to credit the sponsor in future presentations or publications of the work, when appropriate.

• When applicable, credit the Fou Residency, the sponsor and its partner organizations and sponsors when exhibiting or publishing works developed in whole or in part during the residency.

• If engaging in community workshops or collaborative activities (optional), residents are encouraged to document the process and outcomes to contribute to the collective knowledge and shared learning of the residency network.
