Brown Pitcher by Lu Zhang

$48.00

Unique work

Brown Pitcher by Lu Zhang embodies warmth, tactility, and grounded simplicity. Wheel-thrown with a compact, steady form, the pitcher features a gently shaped spout that allows for a controlled, intimate pour. An earthy brown glaze coats the surface, marked by subtle speckling, tonal shifts, and traces of ash and fire that emerge through the firing process. The softly irregular rim and textured body reflect the artist’s hand, celebrating quiet imperfections. Ideal for sake, tea, or water, the Brown Pitcher invites a slower rhythm—transforming a functional object into a contemplative everyday companion.

Lu Zhang is a New York–based artist originally from Xi’an, China. Her practice centers on socially engaged public installations incorporating ceramics and video to create intimate, relational experiences. Through these works, Lu explores the ambiguity of human relationships and examines how personal upbringing and cultural knowledge shape cognition, with particular attention to Chinese diasporic perception. She founded the Wildman Club and co-founded the Chinatown Basketball Club.
