Jessica Tsai is a Taiwanese-American glassblower and fabricator based in Philadelphia. She earned her BFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2019 she was introduced to glass and attended Salem Community College to complete the Scientific Glass Technology program.

Her work is primarily flameworked borosilicate glass, ranging from sculpture to jewelry to pipes, that have her unique realistic sculpting style combined with elements of playful design. Through observation, she draws inspiration from the quiet wonders of the natural world — especially those the eye might miss — and finds beauty in imperfection. Jessica’s work is a study of the fragility and transience of life, carefully rendered in glass. As a craftsperson she loves the problem-solving process, challenge, and attention to detail required to achieve realism in a difficult material.

She has exhibited work in the US and internationally, and has been featured in New Glass Review 44. She has taught flameworking at UrbanGlass, Salem Community College, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Snow Farm Craft. She has demonstrated at the 2023 International Flameworking Conference, the 2023 Glass Art Society Conference, and Tyler School of Art.
