Pale Sky Cup (Small) by Chang Liu

$35.00

Pale Sky Cup (Small) by Chang Liu is a quiet meditation in porcelain. Wheel-thrown and gently tapered, the cup sits lightly in the hand, its form both modest and intentional. A soft celadon glaze creates a pale sky-blue surface, subtly broken by an iron wash that reveals warm undertones along the rim and interior. These nuanced variations—where glaze pools, thins, and breathes—make each cup uniquely expressive. Designed for sake, or small moments of reflection, the Pale Sky Cup invites slowness and attentiveness, transforming everyday use into a contemplative ritual.

Chang Liu is a San Francisco based ceramist. In her work, the familiar mountains and beloved landscapes of her childhood are reinterpreted on clay, transformed into vessels that carry both memory and quiet echoes of the past. Each piece is wheel-thrown, hand altered and layered with glazes that invite interactions between color, gravity, and texture.
