Black Trumpet Chthonic by Phoenix Botanicals

from $48.00

Featured notes: Infused Black Trumpet Mushroom (Craterellus cornucopioides), Lemon, Black Pepper, Elder Flower, Orange Blossom, Apricot, Plumeria, Cocoa, Porcini Mushroom, Oak Leaves, Oudh, beach harvested Ambergris.

A perfume composed around the mysterious aroma of black trumpet mushroom, a true gourmand mycosoliflore.

It opens with a flash of lemon zest and black pepper, then softens into a lush bloom of neroli, plumeria, and elderflower, threaded with apricot, berries, and dark chocolate, touched by a savory whisper of fromage. The base deepens into oak leaves, musky mycelium, and damp soil, with smoky oudh and a trace of ambergris carrying the scent into a shadowed, lingering drydown.

Created in collaboration with artist and forager Scott Bluedorn, inspired by the rich, almost whiskey-like bouquet of dried trumpets and their quiet presence among Long Island oaks, half-hidden in leaf litter and earth. A chthonic fragrance, rooted in the underworld, where decay and beauty entwine.

Phoenix Botanicals natural perfumes are inspired by landscape stories and connection with flora and fauna felt through the senses and transforming cinematically over time. The founder Irina Adam’s artwork explores threads of dialogue with nature, in immersive and reciprocal ways. Recent projects include a series of local wild places wandered and closely observed over years and seasons, transformed by climate change and human activity, comprising photo series and olfactory art.
