In this intimate workshop, we are stepping back into the elegance of the 1920s and 30s to create a fascinator—a delicate headpiece. Unlike heavy felt hats or wide-brimmed straw hats, a fascinator is an intricate accent piece, floating gracefully on the hair like a whisper of vintage glamour.
A hat of this kind is never merely an accessory; it is like a magician’s hat, holding quiet secrets, transformation, and subtle wonder. Each piece captures a unique piece of memory—a fleeting feeling, a dream, or a story. When worn, it becomes a poetic extension of your spirit. When resting on a shelf or vanity, it transforms into a living sculpture, bringing art and history into your home decoration.
Tactile Materials & Mineral Painting: We will begin with beautiful materials, using traditional Chinese mineral pigments to paint on fabric, infusing your design with organic color.
Sculptural Sewing & Rose Making: Learn foundational hand-sewing techniques to shape and form delicate, everlasting fabric roses.
Bird Nest Veiling: Weave and drape classic bird nest veiling, a hallmark of 1930s elegance, to create layers of mystery and grace.
🍵 Throughout the session, enjoy seasonally selected tea and snacks, served as a quiet companion to the rhythm of making.

Chapeau Echo - Born in New York City in 2014, Chapeau Echo millinery studio was founded by Echo Yu He, gallerist (founder of Fou Gallery), curator, millinery artist and writer based in New York. Since its inception, Echo has handcrafted over 350 one-of-a-kind hats—each individually designed, painted, and assembled by her. She paints her hats with traditional Chinese mineral pigments, often spending months sourcing rare materials and vintage jewelry from around the world. Every hat carries a unique narrative, becoming a wearable piece of art. Echo also founded Fou Gallery, an art community committed to amplifying the voices of Asian diaspora artists through curated exhibitions, healing sessions, and community gatherings. She previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University and New York University.

Due to the intimate nature of our programs and the detailed planning required with our instructors, we kindly ask for your understanding of our non-refundable policy. Once registered for a course, all payments are final and cannot be refunded.

While we strive to keep photography and videography to a minimum, all guests consent to being photographed and filmed. Como Demo and Fou Gallery may use these materials for marketing and promotional purposes at their discretion.
